Pastor Bryan and his family have been with us since July, 2007. He, and his wife, Marisa, have been married for 14 years, and have two children.  Graham is 12, and a sixth grader at Shelbyville Middle School.  He enjoys soccer, swimming, fishing, and TV.

Elaina is three, and enjoys sweets, Dora, and being a princess. Marisa works in Indianapolis, as an underwriter for Indiana Farmers Insurance.  She grew up in Beech Grove, attending Holy Name Catholic Church.  Her parents, and three sisters (& families) still live in the Indianapolis and Carmel area.  Marisa enjoys music, travel, and reading.  Bryan grew up in the Hope area, attending the Hope Moravian Church.  His parents and brother (& family) still live there; his sister & her family live in West Virginia.   Bryan enjoys music, reading, zoos, and outdoor activities.

Bryan comes to Mt. Gilead from the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, here in Shelbyville, where he served 3 years as associate pastor; and from Hospice of South Central Indiana, where he served 9 years as a chaplain in the Shelbyville, Greensburg, and North Vernon areas.  Prior to that, Bryan served as senior pastor of the Buckhorn & Kenly United Methodist churches in North Carolina, and the Haverford Moravian Church in Indianapolis.  He twice served as an interim pastor at the Hope Moravian Church; and as a youth pastor of the Attica United Methodist Church (IN) and the Edgeboro Moravian Church (PA).  He was ordained in August, 1986.   He has a B.S. from Purdue University (’80), and a M.Div. from Christian Theological Seminary (’85).

Bryan loves to meet new people, to visit in homes, and to talk to people about Jesus. He has spiritual gifts in preaching, teaching, and leadership.  He helps lead our youth groups (Kingdom Keepers & Witnesses), our Bell Choir, our W.A.D.S (worship & drama squad), our Wednesday night Bible Study, and our New Genesis Sunday School class. He edits our Open Door newsletter, and oversees the Prayer Chain. He assists our Deacons/Deaconesses in the care and overseeing of their “flocks”.  He assists the Christian Education Committee in the planning of Vacation Bible School.  He advises the Social Planning Committee in scheduling events.  He assists the Trustees in the upkeep & planning of our church campus.  He encourages the leaders of all of these groups, as well as the ABM (Men), and ABW (Women).  (And yes, he still finds time to perform weddings & funerals, provide counseling, and visit those in facilities and hospitals.)

Bryan and the Mt. Gilead congregation are expanding outreach efforts to seek and find the “lost” in our community.  If you have been an active member of another church, or have never been involved before,  you are welcome here.  Our pastor, boards, and congregation are here to help you develop a relationship with our Lord Jesus.  Yes, we have a place for you.  Yes, you can use your time and talents, here, with us.
